In my previous article about digital marketing, we talked about content creation in simple detail and from the feedback I received, you needed so much to talk about content creation and how it can help turn your business into a successful venture.
A long time ago, businesses relied only on websites where they could display product images, descriptions and pricing (product catalogue). However, as the world evolves, more sales tools have been introduced to help businesses reach more audiences and their target customers.
Currently, I have seen more online businesses and offline businesses selling through social media tools like TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook or even Instagram and I am sure you are also looking at selling your services or products through social media tools, right?
But how is it possible without having knowledge about content creation? Content creation is the king of any business that wants to make more sales in this digital world powered by AI technology and before we talk more, you should look at the article Why You Need to Increase Your Marketing Budget in 2024
Let us look at popular brands that are using content creation to attract more sales.
MTN Uganda uses content creation to attract more sales for their products and in their popular advert dubbed wesotinge with MoMo, I have seen the video attracting more praise online because of the feature of an actor Osmosis in the video which has attracted more audience. The video or content is funny for everyone and speculates on challenges that MTN clients face, especially those who need to get MTN Mokash services locally dubbed Westotinge but do not know how to approach them. In the video, we see that Osmosis, want to get a loan from a friend but rather than being straight, he would first praise the friend not until when the friend does not have money also to help him😊.
Using the above case study can prove to you that content is something you need to focus on to give your audience the best interaction for your online brand.
What type of content does your audience love?
When it comes to content planning, your marketing team should have the best knowledge about what type of content works well for your audience and to which platform are you going to distribute your content.
Social media tools like Facebook will be good for short videos of 30 seconds and YouTube as well will be a good tool to post short videos for your content. However, TikTok may be a good tool for content of about 60 seconds and above compared to a website which may be a good one to create content in graphics of different sizes depending on where your ads are getting displayed, I always recommend creating graphic content in PNG, or Gif in various format and different sizes.
Creating good content does not mean investing a lot of money in shorting videos, or hiring expensive voice actors to produce your advert. You can use other tools like Adobe, canva to design your marketing content especially the videos and the graphics. In fact using such tools will help you reduce costs and save you a lot of time.
The good with these tools is that they do come with thousands of templates that you can use to easily customize and, can use the AI magic tool in canva to suggest suitable content for your brand. However, if you have the budget, you can hire an experienced content creator to create your good unique appealing content for your brand.
Knowing the type of content your audience loves takes a lot of time to study their behaviour, gender, age group and culture of your audience. Ages between 18 to 25 years are okay with short videos that can be posted on several social media tools and ages above 25 years can be a good consumer of graphics rather than videos.
However, I recommend creating three content categories, videos, graphics, and other formats like audio content which can suit all your different groups of audience. After you have made a good video, you can format the same and turn it into audio for Radio reach and GIF banner to post on your website and website partners.
How to turn your content into sales
The primary goal of creating content is to engage with clients and turn them into sales. And so many businesses are struggling with how to use highly invested content to attract more sales.
Before you start to create content, you need to first think of what you are selling, businesses selling services are often posting videos and banners that include clickable buttons that can take the client to the selling page, product page or service page.
If you have a good landing page after your audience clicks your link, then the visitor is likely to make a purchase.
Businesses that are selling products offline or in physical stores majorly use video ads for brand awareness, location directives and discounts at the physical store.
Depending on which goal you want to achieve with your content, you need to create good content that your audience will love and interact with hence attracting more sales.
Always make sure you place your content on the right platform while minimizing the cost.
Good content can solve client’s problem
The first time I purchased an item online for my podcast, I never knew how to assemble the products, the microphones and the audio mixer, I had to go on YouTube and search for videos about how to assemble my tools. I spent more than one hour figuring out how instead of using my product.
Ever since then, I realized good content can solve your client’s problems and help you reduce the number of tickets your support team have to solve about the services and products you offer.
Consider creating also, content that guides clients on how to use the products you offer and if you sell products that require technical setup, you can consider creating explainer videos that your clients can use to understand how to set up and use the products. This is more helpful because it will save your support department team from solving tickets and attending to customer questions.
If you create good content, you attract more clients to trust your brand and your products and this not only results in the brand trust score being too high, but also will attract more sales from your content.
User-generated content vs. in-house content
Most businesses use user-generated content like creating communities that allow users to post and discuss the products and this is the most effective way to grow more content, and also other businesses are okay with collecting reviews from clients. These reviews can be either positive or negative but the major good thing is, they do help businesses to understand how their products and services align with client’s needs.
For example, the first 1000 people to review AppNomu on Info- Tech research group, a website called softwarereviews.com will receive an incentive of $10 once your review gets approved. With these reviews, you understand what the clients feel about your organization and you can use the reviews to improve service delivery and product.
I recommend highly investing in User-generated content like reviews or communities as this is the best way to truly understand how your clients feel about your products and services.
On the other hand, the in-house content can be in terms of creating knowledgebase, and explainer videos and is also an effective way to stay engaged with your clients.
